GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited holds the distinction of being the first modern distillery established in West Africa. Founded in 1958 by the pre-independence Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), it was created as the state distilleries corporation to produce alcoholic beverages. Since its inception, GIHOC Distilleries has operated as a limited liability company, fully owned by the Government of Ghana.
We excelled in the alcoholic beverage industry in Ghana, establishing itself as a commercially sustainable enterprise. Mastering the art of distillation, refining, blending, and manufacturing various alcoholic beverages, it is recognized as a market leader both locally and internationally.

When Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah took over GIHOC Distilleries in 2017, his innovative approach revolutionized our marketing strategies, influencing the entire industry. Since pioneering spirit advertisements on television in the 90s, we’ve continually embraced cutting-edge mediums and technologies, now focusing on social media. Our product lineup includes Herb Afrik Gin Bitters, Mandingo, Sorento Vermouth, Chevalier Brandy, Apet Dry Gin, Castle Bridge, Kaiser Schnapps, Hand Sanitizers, Takai and Buccaneer Rum.
