His rich career spans high-level roles at the Office of the President and the Ministry of the Interior, where he consistently demonstrated sound judgment, integrity, and a strong sense of national duty.

Mr. Jones Borteye Applerh has served Ghana with distinction across several national and international platforms. His leadership portfolio includes roles such as:
- Secretary to the National Celebrations Planning Committee
- Secretary to the May 9th Stadium Disaster Implementation Committee
- Member of the Governing Council of the Ghana National Fire Service
- Executive Secretary, National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (GNACSA)
At the Small Arms Commission, he led the acclaimed "Ballot Without Bullets" campaign during the 2012, 2016, and 2020 elections-helping reduce gun-related electoral violence. He spearheaded national efforts on arms marking and tracing per ECOWAS standards and played a key role in the enactment of Act 736, which formally established the Commission. Internationally, Mr. Applerh has been a pivotal member of Ghana's negotiation teams for major global disarmament frameworks, including:
- The UN Programme of Action on Small Arms
- The Arms Trade Treaty
- The Cluster Munitions Convention
- The Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty
He was part of the 23 UN Group of Governmental experts to look into Ammunition Stockpiles. He championed African disarmament priorities on the global stage and secured over $400,000 in donor support to upgrade Ghana's disarmament infrastructure,
